Articles must be organized as follows: 1. Summary; 2. Resumen (Spanish Summary); 3. Introduction, an explanation about the background and objectives of the research; 4. Material and methods, detailed information about experimental work and technology used; 5. Results, a precise and concise description of these, using, whenever possible, quantitative terms; 6. Discussion, an argumentation about the importance of results and interpretative limitations; 7. Acknowledgements to people and funding having supported the research; 8. References.
All papers involving human and animal subjects must include a copy of the letter of approval by the respective Ethics and Research Committees from the pertaining institutions, according to the prevailing rules from Health Ministries or Departments.
Authors must be sure that reference numbers used in the text correspond to those included at the end of the article. References should be alphabetically ordered according to the main author's surname. The name of the different journals should be abbreviated according to the abbreviations list of the Index Medicus.
Some examples are given below as to of the order and punctuation references should follow, depending on the source. Authors must strictly follow this format.

Books by one author :

References, including those in tables or figures legends, should be numbered consecutively as they are cited, with super-script Arabic numerals: “…hippocampal stimulation. ²,³,²°,,
Or, if necessary, follow the names of authors by their corresponding reference number in parenthesis: “ Wada and Sato's ²° method was used for...”
Only texts which have been already which published or posted on the Web may be cited as references. Mentions to internal reports, photocopies, papers under assessment, personal communications and unpublished lectures may appear as footnotes.
The authors of accepted articles transfer their copyrights so that SALUD MENTAL is entitled to use them in any physical or electronic way, including Internet.
